Last July saw the very first LEE Filters supported workshops in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with Jeremy Walker and top Brazilian landscape photographer Príamo Melo.

The workshops came about because of the enthusiasm of Patricia Martins, who had been on a U.K. based LEE workshop and the hard work and dedication of Príamo Melo, a long time LEE advocate and widely recognised as one of the best photographers of his generation.

Due to the great success and huge demand from the photographic enthusiasts of Rio, once again this July, Lee Filters are supporting Jeremy and Príamo in two more workshops held at the Casa da Ladeira in the heart of Rio.

…And #58

It’s not often that you hear that Apple and Google—both fighting for utter smartphone dominance—have teamed up on anything, but reports from Bloomberg say it’s the case. And they’re both going in on a half a billion dollars worth of Kodak patents. via

NEW from LEE Filters: The Sev5n System

Introducing the Seven5 Micro Filter System from LEE Filters

Designed for use with Compact System Cameras, the Seven5 filter system hands the photographer control of their images when it really matters – at the moment of capture.

Light, portable and perfect for street photography and general picture-taking
on-the-go, compact system cameras feature the flexibility of manual controls and interchangeable lenses, but it hasn’t always been possible to make the most of filters with them – until now.

Comprising a lightweight, precision engineered filter holder, the LEE Filters Seven5 Micro Filter System is compatible with LEE’s 75x90mm filter range - which includes a Polariser, Neutral Density Filters and now the Big Stopper.

Simply select the correct adaptor ring for your lens thread, screw it onto the lens, snap on the filter holder and drop in the appropriate filter.

In just a few moments you’re ready to shoot!!

INSTANT: THE STORY OF POLAROID by Christopher Bonanos

An ode to painter Mark Rothko, photographer Alfonso Calero shares different techniques to achieve the effects of these beautiful photographs. Learn more HERE

staceythinx:

If these photos remind you of paintings, they’re supposed to. Photographer Alfonso Calero was inspired by the paintings of Mark Rothko when he made this series of landscapes using a variety of techniques.

“The quality and color of light can change dramatically not only over the course of the day, but even over mere minutes around sunrise and sunset. To get those great photographs, photographers not only must be in the right place, but also must be there at the right time.  Sometimes that “right time” lasts for only a minute”
